What this service does

SEND Appeal Builder reads the documents you upload and produces draft documents from them: a request letter, reasons for appeal for form SEND35 or SEND35A, a complaint about delay where a statutory deadline was missed, a working document for sections B and F, and a report of what it could not find. Every statement in a draft is tied to a page of a file you uploaded.

What it does not do

Check everything

The drafts are produced by software from the documents you gave it. Software misreads documents. Every draft is marked as a draft, the statements it could not confirm are highlighted, and the results page tells you how many need checking. Read each one against your own papers before you rely on it. Deadlines shown are calculated from the dates we found; check them against the letter itself and against gov.uk.

This is a prototype

It is being tested on a small number of cases. It reads text documents and photographs of pages, but not scanned PDFs; it is only in English; and it may be unavailable or change without notice. Free specialist advice from IPSEA and your local SENDIASS is available and, if you can wait for it, better.

Your documents

You keep every right in what you upload. We use it only to produce your drafts, and we delete it as described in the privacy notice. Do not upload documents you have no right to share.
